Ismertető szöveg: From the middle of the last century the most important venue for viewing old or rare films in Budapest - its lowered, round shape auditorium made it a yet intimate cinema. At the end of the eighties it was renamed as "Broadway" cinema, and when organizing the art cinema system, the place completely lost its significance and unique character. In December 1998 it ceased to be a cinema ever more. After a few years break the building now houses a staggione theatre, Belvárosi Színház. On the upper floors of the building, beyond the main facade, as well, there were flats located with a splendid view towards the one time Tanács körút. On the left (it is not displayed on this capture) there is the main synagogue of Budapest, on the other side one can reach Astoria crosspoint. The whole building originally was designed by Guidó Hoepfner and Géza Györgyi , raised between 1911-13 for the Viktória Insurance group. The cinema was designed by Ferenc Domány and Andor Wellisch, in 1938.
